Allergy Assist OIT Onward

As part of their OIT package, patients remain under the care of ACE until they have completed 12 months on their maintenance dose. At this point, they would usually be discharged back to the care of their usual allergist or allergy service.

We now offer families the option to have continued access to the ACE team via the Allergy Assist app.

Any patient who is approaching the end of their 12 months on maintenance dosing, or who has completed their OIT treatment and been discharged, can sign up for Allergy Assist OIT Onward.

Absolutely. Monthly membership fees can be paid by either the patient or their parent.

Once the patient is over 18, they will need to download the Allergy Assist app themselves and set up their own login and password.

We will also ask the patient to complete a consent form, where they can choose whether or not they would like us to share medical letters generated following their contact with Allergy Assist with their parent or caregiver.

Allergy Assist members have access to instant messaging through the Allergy Assist app. You can send messages to the team using text, photos or videos, making it easy to share questions or information about your OIT treatment.

The messaging service is available Monday to Friday, 8am–8pm. We aim to respond to messages within 2 hours during these hours.

The Allergy Assist team can support with queries related to OIT treatment, from reintroducing dosing after periods of illness or breaks in treatment, to managing potential side effects and supporting you when dosing becomes challenging.

The Allergy Assist team also has access to the wider ACE team, so where needed, we can seek advice from our Professors, dietitian and psychologist.

Allergy Assist OIT Onward is specifically designed to support patients with their ongoing OIT treatment.

We cannot provide advice or prescribe for health issues unrelated to allergy, or diagnose or prescribe treatment for new allergic conditions. If you have a new or unrelated allergy concern, you should speak to your usual allergist or allergy service.

We cannot support with medical emergencies (e.g. anaphylaxis).

To enhance and support your child’s care, the app provides a dedicated library of expert-created educational resources. All materials are free to access and designed to make managing allergic conditions easier and more understandable.

For instance, if your child is prescribed a nasal spray, you can watch our simple, step-by-step video demonstrating exactly how to use it.

Our resource library includes 25 clinically reviewed information leaflets and 17 instructional and educational videos. Every leaflet and video has been written and produced by our team, ensuring the information is accurate, trustworthy, and easy to digest—whenever you need it.
