Most children will have a friend, classmate or teammate with a food allergy.
Knowing how to be kind, ask questions and include others can make a bigger difference than they realise.

That’s why we’ve created our Small Voice. Big Difference activity sheets.

Designed by the Allergy Centre of Excellence, these free resources help children understand what food allergies are, why they matter and how they can help keep their friends safe through fun, age-appropriate activities and conversations.

The pack explains that allergies aren’t always visible and encourages children to ask questions, include everyone and recognise some of the signs that someone may be having an allergic reaction.

Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, teacher or caregiver, these resources are designed to start positive conversations that build confidence, understanding and empathy.

How to use these activity sheets:

There are no right or wrong answers.

These activities are simply a way to start conversations.

As you work through the pack, ask questions like:
  • Have you ever met someone with a food allergy?
  • What would you do if your friend said they didn't feel well after eating?
  • Why shouldn't we swap snacks?
  • Why is it important to tell a grown-up if we're worried?
  • How can we make sure everyone feels included at parties and school?
Small conversations today can help children become more understanding, confident and supportive tomorrow.
Every child can make a difference.

Food allergies don't just affect the child living with them. They affect classrooms, birthday parties, school trips, playdates, sports clubs, communities.

When more children understand food allergies, everyone benefits.

Together, we can raise a generation that knows how to include, support and advocate for one another.
